My story

I’ve been a teacher in various comprehensive schools in England for the past 7-8 years. All the schools I have worked in have been individuals. OK they have all got buildings, kids, teachers etc but they also have an individual vibe. When I first got into teaching, my Dad said to me that schools were funny places to work. I think I know what he meant. Lots of different staff, hormonally challenged kids and buildings that have come from a different era well worn by thousands of transients. Schools really are funny places. I got into teaching for a couple of reasons: I needed a job. I could go back to uni to get some more qualifications. Because I wanted a job that I could take anywhere in the country. To be honest, I also like to preach to a captive audience that I can tell off if they ain’t listening. (Teachers are often insufferable know-it-alls …… ) PS . Notice I haven’t listed a job interview bollocks about the desire to help kids reach their full potential and at the same time forge the seeds of a new society blah blah blah. Anyway, I had a family duty to teach as my parents were both teachers and a brother and niece are both in the profession - so I suppose it was in my blood. So I found myself at the door to a new chapter in life - I applied and was accepted onto a PGCE course.
